A New Look

East Midlands Packaging Society are extremely proud to announce a new look for 2010/2011 which is being launched by their brand new Chairman, Chris Penfold.  Chris is the CEO of Design Cognition Group Ltd and has over 25 years pharmaceutical & healthcare packaging design and development experience, including 8 years consulting.  He is a fellow of the Packaging Society, a Chartered Environmentalist and also a Chartered Marketer. 

With such an innovative and experienced chairman, they are extremely excited about the programme of events this year which will include blue-chip site visits, networking events, educational events and of course a chance to unwind at some inspiring social events. 

Chris said, “My main focus this year is to entice more of our valued members to take part in events and to encourage ‘new blood’ into the industry.  We have plans to provide some new opportunities that haven’t been tried before, with a series of networking events for example, that will bring together the novel technologies of local Universities and The Knowledge Transfer Networks (KTNs), design students, a range of leading-edge packaging & technology suppliers, and the expertise and knowledge of our members to provide insights and learnings for all.  We feel it is part of our responsibility to bring together Packaging Champions in the East Midlands (and we have many, many excellent ones) with the rising ‘talents’ of design and packaging technology.”

He went on to say “Our website at www.thepackagingsociety.com will be the central-hub for all of our events and there you can see our valued committee, who are all going to be working really hard to get your support at these events.  Any of the committee members welcome being contacted at the email addresses provided – this is your committee, please use it!  Without your support, we cannot together further the profile of the Packaging Society in national issues such as Food Waste v Packaging Waste and further the Packaging Society’s position at the forefront of packaging industry developments.“
