Skymark Flexible Packaging, Ilkeston

Skymark Flexible Packaging, Ilkeston

Thursday 20th February 2014

Skymark has grown to become one of the leading independent manufacturers of flexible packaging solutions in Europe. It now operates out of two sites, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, acquired from Huntsman Corporation (USA) in 1998 and Ilkeston, Derbyshire, acquired from McGregor Rutland Limited in 2000.

Skymark extrudes a variety of LD, MD, LLDPE, HD, PP and Metallocene blends to produce speciality mono and co-extruded blown film structures, 5-layer co-extruded cast speciality films of up to 2.4 metres wide, which utilise both embossed and flat cast production capabilities, cast embossed polyethylene back-sheets for the hygiene and personal care markets and flat cast PP films for the bakery and produce markets.

They also produce a range of specialist structures such as SKYAIR Breathable films and vinyl glove films for the medical market.  As the market for gravure quality printed flexo continues to expand and markets become more sophisticated Skymark is also developing a revolutionary new EB curing flexo press process which embraces the very latest ink-to-plate technology.
