INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY WEBINAR
Jason Lessard - Partner, HGF Limited
13 December 2017
Time
3.00pm - start
4.00pm - finish
Intellectual property (IP) is normally associated with products, not their packaging, but the value of creating an emotional connection with the product or even a minor functional improvement to packaging or its use can be incredibly valuable.
Patents, designs, trade marks and unregistered IP rights can be key to retaining any commercial advantage provided by a product’s packaging.
This short webinar will take you through the basics of the main forms of registered and unregistered IP rights and how to develop a fail safe strategy to protect functional, visual and brand related aspects of any packaging developments.
We will also touch on the special treatment of packaging in the UK’s Patent Box tax regime, which qualifies any profits related to patented products to a drastically reduced corporation tax.
