My interest in Packaging
I previously spent a decade or more developing the intellectual property portfolio (patents, trade marks, designs) of a major UK packaging manufacturer. This created an interest in the subject, arising from the surprising complexity of some of the technical and legal issues involved, the high commercial significance, and yet coming from products to which many consumers don't give much thought or attention. When I explain what I worked on, everyone recognises the products but no-one has realised the technical or commercial signifance. I still feel pride when I enter a supermarket and see 'my' patents still in use.
That involvement ended with a takeover, rationalisation etc, but i still have a soft spot for those products and for the subject generally. I look forward to mixing with like-minded people.
I'm very happy to offer an initial discussion with any EMPS member to see if intellectual property could be relevant to them, and if so, how I could help.
