The East Midlands Packaging Society

The Voice of Packaging in the Heart of the Country

Pack To The Future #PTTF event at NTU 19th October 2011

OK Everyone  - what are you most looking forward to at #PTTF tomorrow then?

Personally I'm really looking forward to hearing all of the presenters:

Jeremy Plimmer is a 'leading light' in the world of anti-counterfeiting.

As Editor/Publisher of Product & Image Security Foundation & Chairman of West Midlands Packaging Society, I'm sure that he will have all sorts of really interesting insights to share with us all.

Chris Hall, as the Hive Business Manger at NTU, will be giving some feedback on the 'real world' of innovation & entrepreneurship and some of the student projects that he has facilitated in the past.

Wayne Carnton, Professor of Visual Technology at NTU, has been doing some ground-breaking work with Neil Chilton of Printed Electronis Ltd and they will both be telling us about their exciting work.

Keith Barnes, as Chairman of the (national) Packaging Society will give us insights into Knowledge Transfer Networks (KTN's) and IOM3 how their resources can be used to great effect in packaging projects. He will also Talk about his innovation work with Mintel and demonstrate some packaging innovations from around the world.

Mark Shayler is an Eco Warrior who has helped over 800 companies develop sustainable products & processes. As a personal friend and partner of Design Cognition, I know that you will find him 'oddball' and entertaining - in the nicest possible way - but with a lot great enthusiasm and practical advice.

My talk will be concentrate on changing consumer needs and the rise of the web & on smartphone technology in packaging.

On top of all of that, we will be providing a forum for engagement, debate and the sharing of ideas. So don't be shy, come along and share your thoughts....in fact why don't you start now...before the event here...let's get a discussion going NOW....

what are you most looking forward to at the event?

Most apprehensive about?

What do you want to get out of it?

Have a project that you want to discuss?

Looking for a specialist skill?

Or only "here for the beer"???

Personally I'd love to see lots of young faces 'light up' when they realise the diversity of working in packaging and the wonderful opportunities that are available working in this arena

Your thoughts count - and with them we can make it a better event for all.....so over to you.....
